Writer, brand enthusiast, fitness lover, and the ultimate hype girl.
(or so I’ve been told)
Hey there! Welcome to my site. I grew up in Belleville, IL—a Midwestern town known for its German roots, minimal cornfields, and where the local paper hailed me the ‘Taylor Swift of TV comedy writing' after reviewing my original, independently produced pilot Jane Don’t Date.
Fun fact: it’s also the birthplace of America’s beloved Jelly Belly candies.
As an experienced marketing communications and advertising professional, my writing claims to fame include commercial scripts for ESPN and ABC Radio, steamy episodic reviews in Soap Opera Digest, ads that entice you to shop at Woodfield Mall, and romance novel-themed copy for Reddi-wip that’d make Danielle Steel swoon.
In 2014, my passion for TV comedy writing drove me to work in writers’ rooms for NBC, Pop TV, 20th Century Fox, and an independent series from award-winning writer/producer Tamika Lamison. I was also hired to write a TV comedy pilot about the inner workings of a Minor League Baseball team, which caught the interest of actor Sean Hayes’s production company and Grandma’s House Entertainment.
I’ve also received awards and helped companies win them, too. My original TV comedy pilot, Unlucky Duckey, was a quarterfinalist in Final Draft’s Big Break Screenwriting Competition. Additionally, I earned my former ad agency (Simantel) and its clients global recognition by writing award-winning case studies, along with articles featured in PR Magazine and other international media outlets. Notably, I earned 75% of Simantel’s total agency awards within two years, a record that still stands today, including the prestigious Ad Age Small Agency Award.
“Kathy is a great team player and would be a valuable addition to any writer’s room. She writes strong yet believable female characters because she’s a tough Midwesterner with a relatable point of view.”

Outside the Writers’ Room
I’m a creative storyteller and published writer with over 10 years of experience in advertising, including account management, copywriting, and brand strategizing for global brands (B2C, B2B) and entertainment companies.
I’ve also worked in ad sales for Cartoon Network, photo editing for Soap Opera Digest, and several ad agencies.
I’m a rare breed who’s right-brained and left-brained, making me a valuable asset to the companies I’ve worked for and the clients I’ve served. I can generate multiple ideas faster than a vending machine can dispense a Twix bar, but I’m also detail-oriented, highly organized, and have handled multimillion-dollar budgets for high-profile clients.
Clients: Healthy Choice, Reddi-wip, Hunt’s, Lululemon, Woodfield Mall, Caterpillar Inc., Lennar (formerly Ryland Homes) & others.
Having All the Fun
As an adventure lover, I enjoy taking day trips and trying new activities with friends. A few of my favorites are zip-lining on Catalina Island, Halloween Time at Disneyland, and pumpkin-picking during fall. Honestly, I’m open to almost anything... except if it involves clowns.
Some might think I’m crazy because I enjoy cold brew coffee in winter—yes, even in brutally cold Chicago—prefer caramel over chocolate, and love everything about Christmas. I firmly believe you can never have too many holiday lights or festive decorations.
As a former marathon runner and fitness enthusiast, I fell in love with taking HIIT-style Versaclimber classes at Rise Nation—so much so that I became its Social Media Manager and organized community events in 2019.
